Olivia Palermo for Hogan

With Olivia Palermo as the face of the Spring Summer '11 campaign, I am loving Hogan's ads right now.

Versatile Blogger Award

Last week I was kindly given the Versatile Blogger Award by the lovely Adjo at Statement Art, Design & Fashion (http://www.statementadf.com). It was by no means expected but nevertheless very much appreciated!

The idea of the award is to explore, discover and recognize great bloggers around the world. They might be blogs that you have discovered and have been following  for a while or even ones that you have just come across and love. Its a great way to get to know the blogger community better and find some great new blogs to add to your follow list.

So now that I have introduced it, the way that the Versatile Blogger Award works is this.
Once being awarded you must follow a few simple rules:
Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their blog in your post.
Tell us 7 things about yourself or your blog.
Award 7 recently discovered bloggers
Get in touch with those lucky bloggers and let them know about their award.

Now heres the hard part...7 things about me (lets hope that they're interesting):
1.) I am one of 5 children, smack in the middle, but I don't think I suffer from middle child syndrome.
2.) I love finding new and exciting things to share with all of you that follow my blog.
3.) I started a blog because I always found things that I thought were amazing and thought, 'Wow, I need to share this stuff with people! They're missing out!'
4.) For me, there is no better holiday than sitting on the beach, with a Bloody Mary and a good book.
5.) My prize possessions? My King Charles Cavaliers, Brandy and Chelsea.
6.) If you're looking for me and cant find me, your best bet is probably at Snog on Brewer St. I'm addicted to Frozen Yoghurt.
7.) Something I couldn't live without...My converse.

The utilitarian kitchen

Using the original brick alcove to house kitchen pots, pans and bowls and fitting a wall-mounted rail for accessing utensils that much easier, is a functional and great use of space.

The whole kitchen has been simplified to the max, reaching the full potential of the room and  creating an easy, clear and relaxed environment. This is my kind of heaven.

Find your favorite brick tiles to lay over your bare walls plus your perfect pendant lamps and start to have a similar kitchen of your own!

GAGA Inspired

After the afro I did last week for the '70s Revival' shoot I decided that I was pretty good at doing hair (it must have something to do with my childhood dream of being a hairdresser when I grew up) and decided to have a go at some other hairstyles.

Lady Gaga always does amazing things with her hair so I taught myself how to do her signature bow. If you want the easy way of doing this then visit Hersheson's where you can buy a clip in bow.

Here's my attempt...Let me know what you think!

NOWNESS.com presents: Richard Ashcroft's "Are You Ready?"

We all used to love The Verve. You couldn't listen to Bittersweet Symphony without singing along, at least I couldn't so when I heard that former Verve frontman was making a go of it on his own, I immediately went on a search to find out just what he was doing.

The result? "Are You Ready?", funk-infused rock anthem that samples Bee Gees B-side “Our Time.”, the first single off of his solo album 'The United Nation of Sound'.
“The dream’s always been to create music inspired by Marvin Gaye and the legends of soul,” Ashcroft says.

Take a look at the amazing "Are You Ready?" music video by Giorgio Testi. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I did. Watch Are You Ready? on YouTube

Brown Boutique TLV

I love boutique hotels, something about the small scale of them always makes me feel like everything is more personal, more catered to me. On my recent trip to Tel Aviv I came across a new boutique hotel, the beautifully decorated Brown TLV.

Described as  an 'Urban Hotel' it is true to its word. Based in the center of Tel Aviv, bordering beautiful Neve Tsedek, full of boutiquey shops and cafes, and trendy Rothschild Blvd, whilst being close to Nachalat Binyamin, Sheinkin, Carmel Market and being only 10 minutes from the beach, what more could you ask for?

The hotel is the perfect place to sit back, relax and catch up with friends after a long day of tanning or cultural overload. Have a drink in the living room or on the sun deck. Pop in when you are next in Tel Aviv, for a breath of fresh air and a break from the mega-hotels.

Jean-Paul Gaultier for Roche Bobois

This year Jean-Paul Gaultier teamed up with furniture design house Roche Bobois to commemorate its 50th anniversary. I personally do not think that they could have picked a better man for the job.

The result: incredible collection featuring a transformable, mah-jong-like sofa, amazing Roman inspired seats, a bed, beautiful mirrors, cabinets, carpets, and many cushions…with the majority of it all on wheels (Jean-Paul likes things better when they can be easily moved) - all in typical Gaultier prints, including of course his nautical stripes. Which is your favorite look?

The Do-Good Dame

Yes, it's that time of year again... This Thursday the 18th of March, we are all invited to go about our day making fools out of ourselves: wearing big plastic red blobs on our faces and doing silly things. But you guessed it, it's all for a good cause: Red Nose Day and with Vivienne Westwood involved its all the more exciting!

Thanks to Vivienne we can all do something to help out, by wearing one of her 'Chari-tees', T-Shirts designed for comic relief, available at T.K.Maxx. She has always had a passion for things that matter and has never been afraid to make a political or cultural statement through fashion.
Working closely with Comic Relief on the range of T-shirts, Westwood comments, “I once did a collection called ‘I am Expensiv’, meaning that we are supported by the suffering of the whole world in our privilege bubbles and we must try and help people a bit. Comic Relief does a lot and I try to help where I can. My main problem at the minute is climate change. I do believe we are an endangered species and I think it is great to try and do anything you possibly can even if to help just one person. But Comic Relief does more than that.”

Many of Vivienne Westwoods’s collections take inspiration from history and the Red Nose Day T-shirts are no exception. They feature bold black and white prints of historical figures and icons. So, what do you say? Go grab yours and do your bit for Comic Relief! You'll look good too!

Celebrating real supermodels

Claudia Schiffer, Gianna Versace, Christy Turlington & Yasmeen Ghauri
As a kid my mom had a book on Versace. It was a retrospective; pages and pages of beautiful models in beautiful Versace clothing and I adopted it as my own. I would spend hours in our study, combing through this incredible database of what I called 'barbie dolls' in the likes of Yasmeen Ghauri, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington.

Of course looking back they look nothing like barbie dolls, but seeing how someone so beautiful could be transformed (just like a Barbie), through clothing, little hair and make up and a fantastic photo shoot, opened my eyes. The aesthetics of it all really excited me and these models brought the clothing to life.

I woke up this morning thinking about the photos in my old book and decided I needed to dig them up, so here is a small selection, celebrating the incredible supermodels of the 90s on the Versace runway. They just don't make them like this anymore.

A Taste of Tel Aviv

For those of you who don't know, I have just spent the last week in Tel Aviv. I know it well, have been going there since I was born, and even lived there for a year but it is only more recently that I have started noticing its beautiful architecture. Granted, there are many ugly buildings but amongst the monstrosities are many gems that I thought I'd share with you.

Palm House, Nachalat Binyamin

Palm House, designed in 'Art Nouveau' style by architect Y.Z Tabachnik in 1922, boasts beautiful balconies and staircases right in the heart of Nachalat Binyamin. As one of my favorite places in Tel Aviv (although I may be biased; as this is the street where my grandparents married), it is definitely worth checking out whilst strolling along the arts and crafts market.

Pagoda House, King Albert Square, Montefiore.

Built by architect Alexander Levy in the architectural boom of the 1920s, in an "Eclectic Style', the building on the corner of Nachmani street and Montefiore is a treat to look at. Once a decrepit disaster zone, it has now been restored combining Oriental and Western style elements. Walk past on your way for a drink at the Montefiore hotel.
Bialik House, Bialik Street
Home to Israel's most celebrated poet Haim Nachman Bialik, the elaborately and colourfuly decorated house became open to the public after his death. Built in 1927 and restored in 2008, the architect was influenced by Islamic styles which is reflected by its impressive decor. Visitors can view Bialik's work and works given to Bialik by Israel's finest artist. A great activity for the culturally hungry.

Calling All Chanel Lovers.

To all you Chanel lovers out there, take a look at this footage from Chanel's womens RTW collection for Fall/Winter, two days ago at Paris Fashion Week. The layout and setting of the show was original, breathtaking and definitely my favourite show so far.

The collection is still as true to its brand as ever. Tailored traditional suits teamed up with lots of sequins and sparkles...except with a darker more grungy feel, and did I pick up on a bit of vampire influence in there? Just how i like it! Which is your favourite look? Am I greedy if I say I want them all?!

Rock Chic

You are looking at the new Balmain ad and to me, it is more than perfect. I love the detail and the use of safety pins.
For great deals on Balmain visit www.theoutnet.com, they have 70% percent off at the moment, so if you're strapped for cash, I recommend spending your little money there: how can anyone say no to an opportunity like that?!

"This Is Hard Core"

If you haven't already, you must go and check out the Spring/Summer 2011 issue of LOVE magazine. Yes, it is the one with Justin Bieber, referred to as 'the beautiful one' on the front cover, but he is not the reason I am sending you to go buy it.

The real reason is that I couldn't bear for you to miss out on Gloss, the amazing shoot by Solve Sundsbo. Fun, beautiful, high fashion photographs with the most beautiful models. Here is a sneak peak, which is your favourite?

'Shiny, smooth and a little bit fruity, spring's lipsmackin' colours run wet and wild - and so hot they'll have you lusting after lustre.'
